My life as an artist has been evolving for over 30 years now. Beginning as a painter who dipped her toes into making
a baby quilt with stuffed and appliqued teddy bears for a nephew, I became enchanted with working with fabric. Numerous quilts
later, as the shine began to wear off traditional piecing and applique, forays into sculpture, rug hooking and back to painting
took me on detours, but I kept coming back to fabric.
In the last 10 years, art quilting has exploded in breadth and scope.
The amazing work that is being done by
art quilters and fiber artists around the world has been enhanced by thousands of new products
and techniques which allow us to stretch our art in new ways. I happily explored the diverse supplies and resources available and at
last found my niche. I now work with all sorts of fibers, from cotton, wool and silks to Tyvec, Angelina and metal
fibers, incorporating them into landscapes and botanicals on painted silk and cotton grounds.
My newest work using
encaustic was painting and fibers is exciting. Another new world is opening!
